newcastle’s finest sports club – Wallsend boys club
Halo BJJ at Wallsend Boys Club is a relatively new and exciting collaboration, taking what was Sakura Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club and placing it within a newly refurbished community sports centre, with a rich local history in the North East of England.
Wallsend Boys Club is better known of course for its outstanding football academy and strong links with Newcastle United, so linking up with such a prestigious organisation was a real coup for Halo UK.
The facilities onsite are second to none, all brand new and sparkling making a perfect home for our growing Jiu Jitsu club.
We are a growing club with a wide variety of members, offering three weekly classes in authentic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for adults, and two for children.
The Martial Arts training at Halo WBC is of the modern combat sport variety with experienced coaches Jamie Berry and assistant coaches, Steve Middleton and Tristan Morgan.
Halo BJJ at Wallsend Boys Club is closely linked to Tyne Valley Martial Arts, led by HALO UK black belt & head Instructor Alex Wright, with both clubs being affiliated to Halo Jiu Jitsu CA, under Angel Lopez & Maurício “Tinguinha” Mariano.

WALLSEND BOYS CLUB History
Wallsend Boys Club has over a century of fascinating and colourful history, originally founded by the Swan Hunter Shipbuilders in 1904 on Station Road.
Wallsend Boys club helped to educate apprentices and develop their physical, mental capacity, by providing positive activities for it’s workers.
Over the years the club has survived fires, and weather damage and despite the building being burnt down and rebuilt then damaged and demolished the very soul and heart of the boys club has lived on.
